NEWARK LIBERTY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Aeroporto Newark Liberty International - Foto www.panynj.gov/airports/ewr-redevelopment/Newark Liberty International Airport is located near the city of Newark in New Jersey but is basically a New York City airport. Compared to the JFK airport it is less busy and closer to Manhattan. It consists of three passenger terminals and one cargo terminal and is one of the hubs of United Airlines and is also the hub of the FedEx Express cargo airline.

Parking
In the three car parks of each terminal there are car parks near the exits reserved for disabled people.
Terminals
In the areas in front of the terminals there are areas, generally covered by shelters, for the arrival or departure from the airport with their own means.
Assistance for the transport of baggage, check-in and transfer to boarding must be agreed with the airline at least 24-48 hours before departure. When travelling with a motorized wheelchair, it is advisable to ask the company about their transport rules before purchasing the ticket. In particular, the batteries should be checked.
Accessible drinking water fountains are available at the various terminals and all bathrooms are wheelchair-accessible. There are also Pet Relief Areas dedicated to service animals accompanying disabled people.

Parking area

The airport has three short stay car parks (A, B, C), one for each terminal of the airport, three daily car parks (P1, P3, P4), a long stay (P6) connected by a shuttle and finally a valet parking (P4). The rate of short stay (A, B, C) is $4 every half hour, $8 every hour up to a maximum of $33 per day, which is reduced to a limit of $18 for disabled people. In the daily (P1, P3, P4) rates are $4 every half hour, $8 every hour up to a maximum of $24 (Lot P1/P3), $27 (Lot P4) per day. In the long stop (P6) you pay $18 for the first 24 hours and $6 for each subsequent 8 hours. Finally for the valet you pay $ 40 for the first 24 hours and $ 20 for each subsequent 12 hours.

AirTrain and public transport

The AirTrain Newark operates 24 hours a day, every day and connects the terminals with the Penn Station in Newark where you can take trains of the corridor railway lines of the American region of North-East and North coast of New Jersey (NJ TRANSIT, Amtrak, PATH line). The journey time is 7, 9 and 11 minutes respectively from terminals C, B and A and it takes 30 minutes to reach New York, Via NJ TRANSIT, to New York Penn Station and 40 minutes, Via PATH/NJ TRANSIT, to the World Trade Center. Rates vary between $5.50 and $12.50 while the connection to the car rental car parks is free.

Taxi

Taxis have the classic yellow colour and the licence number is written on a medallion placed on the bonnet of the car. Unlike JFK airport, there is no flat rate for the connection to Manhattan. The approximate cost is $50 for the area between Battery - W 23rd St., $55 for the area between W 24th St. - W 58th St. and $60 for W 59th St. - W 96th St., to which must be added extras such as any tolls for bridges or tunnels (return fare) and tip that is around 15%. At peak times, the so-called rush hours, there is an extra charge of $5 (weekdays 6AM-9AM and 4PM-7PM, Saturday and Sunday 12:00pm-8PM, excluding trips to Staten Island). Citizens over 62 years old have a 10% discount. Finally, the local taxi commission automatically adds $5.50 for credit card transactions.
