This house was built between 1831 and 1832 by Joseph Brewster, in Federal style and with interiors in Greek Revival style, based on a project by the architect Minard Lafever. In 1835 it was bought by the wealthy merchant Seabury Tredwell and remained in his family until 1933. In 1936 it was transformed into a museum and in 1971 underwent a major restoration followed by architect Joseph Roberto and interior designer Carolyn Roberto. It has the particularity of being the only house in Manhattan that still has the original furniture, furnishings and family memories.
You can visit with self-guided tour or follow a guided tour of 45 minutes.
