Lipstick Building - Filippo Pompili Photo 138 m high and 34 floors, it was designed by architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee and completed in 1986. The name “lipstick”, is linked to its particular shape and color that resembles a lipstick. The skyscraper has an elliptical plan which, as it climbs, is reduced twice, creating a structure with three elliptical cylinders that are increasingly narrower in order to obscure the road surface as little as possible, as required by the building regulations.
In the building, between the 17th and 19th floors, were the offices of Bernard Madoff, the former stockbroker, investment consultant and financier, arrested in 2008 with the accused of having organized one of the greatest financial frauds of all time.
